Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Newport AFC's Davis Koech started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ismael Yiampoy kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. John Denno didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Samuel Oduor went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 12th minute Jefferson Chege shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Denno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Jefferson Chege ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. John Denno was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 26thth minute of the game Samuel Oduor who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newport AFC's John Denno was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Fletching's Samuel Oduor in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Newport AFC's John Denno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jefferson Chege in the 39th minute of play. Njuguna Leakey made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Dennis Wanjohi sent off a good shot on target. John Denno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jefferson Chege, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 48 minutes of play, Fletching's Samuel Oduor made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. John Denno was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The wind increased when Samuel Oduor made the kick off in the second half. If Davis Koech had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Newport AFC's John Denno got control of the ball when Jefferson Chege tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Samuel Oduor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fletching's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Oduor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John Denno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the match, Newport AFC's goalkeeper John Denno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jefferson Chege. Samuel Oduor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Denno having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Newport AFC's Oburu Rutto got a free kick in the 75th minute. Davis Koech sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Fletching booed when Newport AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davis Koech didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jefferson Chege sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Newport AFC's Michael Oduor got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Fletching's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
