NAIROBI FC's Thomas Korir got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd match minute, NAIROBI FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Korir to maneuver through the defense. In the 38th minute Patrick Akinyi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Riri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, tusker fc's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Akinyi came free, but Dennis Riri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Samuel Odinga to make the kick off. Zedekiah Atieno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuel Odinga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Mwencha in the 54th minute of play forced NAIROBI FC's goalkeeper Zedekiah Atieno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the NAIROBI FC defense, Samuel Odinga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zedekiah Atieno. The NAIROBI FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zedekiah Atieno should have stopped the shot. Jonathan Mwencha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. When Samuel Odinga came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the tusker fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Odinga couldn't finish the play. Dennis Riri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Korir, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Zedekiah Atieno came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by tusker fc's Samuel Odinga. But to his dismay, Samuel Odinga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After 86 minutes, Sammy Waheto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the tusker fc and the NAIROBI FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
