Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Davis Koech kicked off to start the match. Sammy Nyamau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dennis Wanjohi struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Sammy Keino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newport AFC. Francis Boit's late challenge caught a Newport AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francis Boit helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Francis Boit hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Davis Koech sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sammy Keino made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Dennis Wanjohi sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Newport AFC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. James Lel hit a great ball. Shekhar Biwott took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for John Denno. Newport AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Rothwell AFC's Francis Boit in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newport AFC's goalie prevented a goal. After 27 played minutes Newport AFC got a freekick which was hit by Bernard Valdo. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sammy Nyamau in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Denno saved Newport AFC from getting behind. After having played for 39 minutes, Sammy Nyamau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rothwell AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sammy Nyamau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Newport AFC's John Denno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sammy Nyamau in the 42nd minute of play. The supporters of Newport AFC booed when Rothwell AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Githinji Muhoho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adah Karimi, 48 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Moses Khayeshe lost his temper 54 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 53 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Newport AFC! The goalkeeper, John Denno, was totally fooled by Rothwell AFC's Shekhar Biwott, who 56 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. George Kimutai hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 64 minutes into the game, Newport AFC's Dennis Wanjohi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sammy Keino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 69 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Rothwell AFC! After some careless play in the Rothwell AFC defense, Dennis Wanjohi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sammy Keino. The Rothwell AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sammy Keino should have stopped the shot. Dennis Wanjohi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Rothwell AFC's Francis Boit got a free kick in the 88th minute. If Francis Boit had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Dennis Wanjohi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 100thth minute of the game Dennis Wanjohi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rothwell AFC's Sammy Keino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
