When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evans Loroupe made a kick off. Rotherham's Musa Muhoho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davis Koech in the 57th minute of play. After 68 minutes Rotherham's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adah Karimi who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Rotherham's goalie and right to Charles Akoth. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Rotherham's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dennis Wanjohi got free with Musa Muhoho in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evans Loroupe struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. John Denno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rotherham. In the 95th minute, Evans Loroupe ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. John Denno was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Newport AFC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Rotherham.
