If Emmanuel Kipketer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute George Ngugi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Omar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Saltash City's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Wainaina came free, but Joseph Rop reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Saltash City defense, Patrick Wainaina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joseph Rop. The Saltash City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joseph Rop should have stopped the shot. Patrick Wainaina scored 0-2 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joseph Rop, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emmanuel Kipketer was the one to do the kick off. Patrick Wainainas short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Joseph Rop to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 58 minutes, Patrick Wainaina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caistor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrick Wainaina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joseph Rop showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emmanuel Kipketer, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After 71 played minutes, Saltash City's Yobes Kipruto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper David Omar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Saltash City reached it. The audience was convinced that Emmanuel Kipketer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joseph Rop was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. When Patrick Wainaina came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Caistor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Wainaina couldn't finish the play. 84 minutes into the match, Saltash City's goalkeeper Joseph Rop had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Patrick Wainaina.
