In the 12th minute Moses Ogot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Githinji Mbugua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Liverpool KN booed when city club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Leakey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Moses Ogot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Githinji Mbugua read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. A collision led to city club getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. David Mulama hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in city club's zone, Moses Ogot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Githinji Mbugua came out of the goal and Moses Ogot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Githinji Mbugua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Leakey in the 25th minute of play. Paul Musyoka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, James Sarun managed to get in a good position for a shot. city club's supporters rose to their feet, but James Sarun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remco Driel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute, Paul Musyoka made a precise shot to the right of Remco Driel. Liverpool KN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Remco Driel made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when William Leakey sent off a good shot on target. Liverpool KN's Moses Ogot got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dan Gichuki made in the 43rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Liverpool KN's Eugeniusz Skaradoski. Carsten Kruijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 48 minutes of play, Liverpool KN's Moses Ogot made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Githinji Mbugua was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paul Musyoka to make the kick off. Moses Ogot struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Githinji Mbugua didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool KN. Kimutai Mwaura's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Githinji Mbugua firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 66th minute, city club's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Moses Ogot fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Githinji Mbugua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugeniusz Skaradoski in the 69th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Thomas Leakey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Githinji Mbugua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomas Leakey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Githinji Mbugua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Moses Ogot came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Liverpool KN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moses Ogot couldn't finish the play. James Sarun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eugeniusz Skaradoski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moses Ogot was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 99th minute. Liverpool KN's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Liverpool KN's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
