In the 4th minute Fredrick Koskei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julius Nyamau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Wycliff Lukoye kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Njeri Jonny. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Julius Nyamau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richard Nduro in the 13th minute of play. Richard Nduro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Julius Nyamau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute Fredrick Koskei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julius Nyamau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hazel Sport Club's zone, Richard Nduro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julius Nyamau came out of the goal and Richard Nduro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hazel Sport Club's Josephat Adhiambo got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 34 minutes, Richard Nduro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Haslingden United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Richard Nduro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Richard Nduro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julius Nyamau having to make a save. Hazel Sport Club's Julius Nyamau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Nduro in the 38th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Titus Biwott got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Dedan Nyambura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Julius Nyamau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Nduro in the 52nd minute of the match. If Richard Nduro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fredrick Biwott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Hazel Sport Club's Wycliff Lukoye got a free kick in the 69th minute. Fredrick Koskei scored 1-2 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julius Nyamau, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Julius Nyamau didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Richard Nduro went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Richard Nduro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julius Nyamau was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Bonaventure Adhiambo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haslingden United's supporters rose to their feet, but Bonaventure Adhiambo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julius Nyamau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 93rd minute, Haslingden United's Richard Nduro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. Haslingden United's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
