Wally Howarth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Micheal Greenwood in the 5th minute of the match. After 5 minutes, Micheal Greenwood made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Airblue's Wally Howarth tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Joe Gower sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Stefan Marriott hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 10 played minutes, Shoeburyness City's Micheal Greenwood shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wally Howarth came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Shoeburyness City reached it. Wally Howarth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Micheal Greenwood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Shoeburyness City's goal looked a bit too open when Henry Keyworth came free, but Philip Frost reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joe Gower recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Philip Frost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Russell McDonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the game, Micheal Greenwood cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Wally Howarth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alan Swanson kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. If Vince Duckworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Gower in the 35th minute of play forced Airblue's goalkeeper Wally Howarth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Philip Frost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Russell McDonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Micheal Greenwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wally Howarth came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Shoeburyness City's Vince Duckworth. But to his dismay, Vince Duckworth quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Vince Duckworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Wally Howarth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joe Gower hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andy Gardener stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Philip Frost stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andy Gardener's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Stefan Marriott was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 64 minutes into the match. In the 65th match minute, Airblue was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stefan Marriott to maneuver through the defense. Henry Keyworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th minute, Russell McDonald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Micheal Greenwood came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Shoeburyness City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Micheal Greenwood couldn't finish the play. When Henry Keyworth came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Airblue fans jumped to their feet. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Micheal Greenwood took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Wally Howarth to make any attempt to save it. The Shoeburyness City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Shoeburyness City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
