Theagenis Makrigiannis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Alkis Bosis made a huge save. Viktoras Pireotis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Alkis Bosis made a huge save. If Panos Pantelakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Dimitris Poursalidis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alkis Bosis was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. 42 minutes into the game, Dimitris Poursalidis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Alkis Bosis. Dimitris Poursalidis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dimitris Poursalidis to make the kick off.
