The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfonso Loreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Panos Leontakoglou came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Zaknthos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Panos Leontakoglou couldn't finish the play. In the 10th minute, Periklis Papapostolou had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Apostolis Katelis fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Λαχανόκηποι's protests and gave Apostolis Katelis a yellow card for diving instead. Zaknthos made a substitution. Dimitris Zikos replaced Periklis Papapostolou. In the 17th minute, Zaknthos's Alfonso Loreto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Grigoris Riganopoulos. Grigoris Riganopoulos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When Soulis Zacharenios fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Λαχανόκηποι's protests and gave Soulis Zacharenios a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Zaknthos booed when Λαχανόκηποι was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Soulis Zacharenios didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Λαχανόκηποι defense, Alfonso Loreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Grigoris Riganopoulos. The Λαχανόκηποι fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Grigoris Riganopoulos should have stopped the shot. After having played for 27 minutes, Panos Leontakoglou managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zaknthos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Panos Leontakoglou was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Grigoris Riganopoulos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Loreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Petros Stoltidis kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Alfonso Loreto put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Grigoris Riganopoulos. The crowd rose to their feet as Zaknthos's Alfonso Loreto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Grigoris Riganopoulos. That made the score 5-0 after 40 minutes of play. Grigoris Riganopoulos made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Alfonso Loreto sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th minute, Panos Leontakoglou reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Grigoris Riganopoulos. The goal made the score 6-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfonso Loreto to strike the kick off in the second half. Zaknthos's Chrisostomos Panagos got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Λαχανόκηποι's zone, Panos Leontakoglou stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Grigoris Riganopoulos came out of the goal and Panos Leontakoglou tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Grigoris Riganopoulos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Loreto in the 57th minute of play. After 60 minutes of play, Zaknthos's Panos Leontakoglou made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Grigoris Riganopoulos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alfonso Loreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grigoris Riganopoulos having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfonso Loreto in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Grigoris Riganopoulos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfonso Loreto in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Grigoris Riganopoulos saved Λαχανόκηποι from getting behind. Grigoris Riganopoulos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfonso Loreto's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute, Stratos Panakakis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Grigoris Riganopoulos was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Dimitris Zikos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the game, Zaknthos's Panos Leontakoglou nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Grigoris Riganopoulos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. 91 minutes into the match, Alfonso Loreto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Grigoris Riganopoulos. Λαχανόκηποι's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso Loreto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 10-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Zaknthos fully deserved thier win.
