The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute Theofilos Kostakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stamatis Pliatsikas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evripidis Vassaras's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evaggelos Skentzos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. After having played for 14 minutes, Nikos Paltos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aris Thessaloniki's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nikos Paltos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Vaggelis Ivanidis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stamatis Pliatsikas was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Stamatis Pliatsikas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vaggelis Ivanidis, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Sokrátion's goal looked a bit too open when Sotiris Galanis came free, but Stamatis Pliatsikas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kostas Stratidis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Evaggelos Skentzos firmly grabbed it by the left post. Evaggelos Skentzos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kostas Stratidis in the 26th minute. Stamatis Pliatsikas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vaggelis Ivanidis's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 33 minutes into the match, Kostas Stratidis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Evaggelos Skentzos, 2-0. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Giannis Kavourdoukos took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Evaggelos Skentzos to make any attempt to save it. In the 40th minute, Christos Nikolaou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes into the match, Sokrátion's goal looked a bit too open when Spyros Kanelidis came free, but Stamatis Pliatsikas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Evaggelos Skentzos made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Kostas Stratidis sent off a good shot on target. Theofilos Kostakos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Giannis Kavourdoukos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. But to his dismay, Theofilos Kostakos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Sokrátion's Stamatis Pliatsikas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Sokrátion from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute Kostas Stratidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaggelos Skentzos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evaggelos Skentzos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kostas Stratidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Aris Thessaloniki's goalkeeper Evaggelos Skentzos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 73 minutes, Theofilos Kostakos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamatis Theofilakos hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Sotiris Galanis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Stamatis Pliatsikas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sokrátion's zone, Sotiris Galanis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stamatis Pliatsikas came out of the goal and Sotiris Galanis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sotiris Galanis got free with Stamatis Pliatsikas in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stamatis Pliatsikas was a little too slow when Vaggelis Ivanidis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 3-3.
