The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Antonis Mouzis came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Riverpool's Charalambos Keratomenos. But to his dismay, Charalambos Keratomenos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Kostas Batiris made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Vaios Nikiforakis sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Diogenis Alonion F.C booed when Riverpool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionysis Zafiriou didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Kostas Tabakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 25 minutes, Charalambos Keratomenos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charalambos Keratomenos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Riverpool's Aggelos Staramopoulos got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Antonis Mouzis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charalambos Keratomenos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diogenis Alonion F.C's Antonis Mouzis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charalambos Keratomenos in the 33rd minute of play. If Charalambos Keratomenos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kostas Batiris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alekos Anagnostakis in the 39th minute of play. Charalambos Keratomenos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 44 minutes, Charalambos Keratomenos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riverpool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charalambos Keratomenos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 48th minute there was a penalty for Riverpool. Thomas Konstantinou stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Antonis Mouzis. 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Charalambos Keratomenos to strike the kick off in the second half. Charalambos Keratomenos might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Antonis Mouzis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Charalambos Keratomenos ran back to his position shaking his head. Riverpool's Kostas Batiris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alekos Anagnostakis in the 58th minute of play. When Charalambos Keratomenos came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Riverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charalambos Keratomenos couldn't finish the play. If Aggelos Staramopoulos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vaios Nikiforakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Kostas Batiris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the game, Charalambos Keratomenos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Antonis Mouzis. Charalambos Keratomenos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Charalambos Keratomenos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Charalambos Keratomenos got free with Antonis Mouzis in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ntinos Sarantos during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ntinos Sarantos kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Charalambos Keratomenos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonis Mouzis having to interfere. Errikos Birbilis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonis Mouzis having to interfere. Charalambos Keratomenos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antonis Mouzis having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vaios Nikiforakis during the 97th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Diogenis Alonion F.C's Vaios Nikiforakis got a free kick in the 97th minute. A collision led to Diogenis Alonion F.C getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Alekos Anagnostakis hit a great ball. Antonis Mouzis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charalambos Keratomenos, who was totally free with the ball in the 100th minute. When the final whistle sounded Riverpool left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Diogenis Alonion F.C.
