In the 6th minute Alkis Psiris shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignatios Chloros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignatios Chloros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikos Pragidis in the 8th minute of play. Lazio FC were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after ΠΑΟΚ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marios Nousias took the corner. Panos Mantzios sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eutichios Skliros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Panos Mantzios in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. In the 32nd match minute, ΠΑΟΚ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eustratios Valianatos to maneuver through the defense. Panos Mantzioss short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Thomas Argyriou to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. ΠΑΟΚ's Thomas Argyriou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eutichios Skliros in the 38th minute of play. Panos Mantzios sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Konstantinos Labriakos hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in ΠΑΟΚ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 46th minute. Penalty! Thomas Argyriou went to the wrong direction when Marios Nousias was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eutichios Skliros was the one to do the kick off. Nikos Pragidis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ignatios Chloros having to make a save. In the 58thth minute of the game Alkis Psiris who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lazio FC's Ignatios Chloros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Eutichios Skliros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Thomas Argyriou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. ΠΑΟΚ's Thomas Argyriou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panos Mantzios in the 63rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Alkis Psiris kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ignatios Chloros. That made the score 1-1 in the 64 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in ΠΑΟΚ's zone, Panos Mantzios stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Argyriou came out of the goal and Panos Mantzios tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eutichios Skliros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Argyriou having to interfere. In the 71st minute Eutichios Skliros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Argyriou saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ΠΑΟΚ's Alkis Psiris got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86th minute Eutichios Skliros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Argyriou saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Alkis Psiris's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ignatios Chloros was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Lazio FC's Giorgos Chronatos got a free kick in the 87th minute. Alkis Psiris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
