Zisis Giannakopoulos came out of the goal and Nuno Flores tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sakis Mitrofanis got free with Zisis Giannakopoulos in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Prodromos Stafilas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiros Kiskabanis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Spyros Vertsos's late challenge caught a Mpemphdes Syrou's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Spyros Vertsos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tzoϊrtza FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Spyros Vertsos hit a great ball. The long shot by Joel da Mata in the 30th minute really tested Zisis Giannakopoulos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sakis Mitrofanis in the 32nd minute of play forced Tzoϊrtza FC's goalkeeper Zisis Giannakopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Sakis Mitrofanis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Joel da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Mpemphdes Syrou fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel da Mata couldn't finish the play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vladimiros Kiskabanis to make the kick off. Vladimiros Kiskabanis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prodromos Stafilas having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Sakis Mitrofanis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zisis Giannakopoulos was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game.
