In the 12th minute, Akis Alamanos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tilemachos Kokolakis was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fragiskos Takounakis in the 15th minute of play forced FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's goalkeeper Tasos Petras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fragiskos Takounakis hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Lakis Tsakrilis kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After some careless play in the METS AO defense, Kyriakos Vasiliadis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tilemachos Kokolakis. The METS AO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tilemachos Kokolakis should have stopped the shot. Vassilis Kosmoulis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Tasos Petras tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tasos Petras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vassilis Kosmoulis, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 27 minutes FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marinos Kourmentalas who took care of the corner kick. Fragiskos Takounakis hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, METS AO's Makis Porneos got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 35th minute, Vassilis Kosmoulis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tasos Petras was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Tasos Petras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fragiskos Partalidis, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Lakis Tsakrilis hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. When Nikos Bolirakis came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nikos Bolirakis couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nikos Bolirakis made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Kyriakos Vasiliadis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Kyriakos Vasiliadis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tilemachos Kokolakis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fragiskos Takounakis got free with Tasos Petras in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Fragiskos Partalidis took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Tasos Petras to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Kyriakos Vasiliadis managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's supporters rose to their feet, but Kyriakos Vasiliadis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tilemachos Kokolakis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Nikos Bolirakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, one of METS AO:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for METS AO. Tilemachos Kokolakis had in the 70thth minute some difficulties stopping Akis Alamanos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Tasos Petras made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vassilis Kosmoulis in the 72nd minute. Marinos Kourmentalas kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 97th minute, Fragiskos Takounakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA fans cheered their team off the field, for while METS AO had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
