Griva's Nikos Katsiaounis got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in PAOK FC's zone, Nikos Katsiaounis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valerios Nikolaidis came out of the goal and Nikos Katsiaounis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 41 in the game by Markos Kapranidis from a close distance when the talented Christos Kazantzas managed to make a qualified save. Griva's players were relieved. Fondas Salonikis struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Valerios Nikolaidis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Griva. In the 44th minute Fondas Salonikis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valerios Nikolaidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. PAOK FC's Valerios Nikolaidis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fondas Salonikis in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Valerios Nikolaidis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fondas Salonikis, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Nikos Katsiaounis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Valerios Nikolaidis made a huge save. Nikos Katsiaounis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valerios Nikolaidis having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Fondas Salonikis took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Valerios Nikolaidis to make any attempt to save it. If Fondas Salonikis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Griva's Nikos Katsiaounis got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Griva booed when PAOK FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zisis Beos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nikos Katsiaounis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nikos Katsiaounis came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Griva fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nikos Katsiaounis couldn't finish the play. Griva's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
