Kostas Pantazoulis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Namık Atabek in the 7th minute of play. Lakis Stellatos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Errikos Kapareliotis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute Errikos Kapareliotis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lakis Stellatos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, John Starks had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kostas Pantazoulis. Vakoϊfi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John Starks was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Lakis Stellatos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Errikos Kapareliotis in the 23rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Vakoϊfi's Viktoras Karagiorgas got a free kick in the 25th minute. The AEK FC fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when AEK FC's Namık Atabek looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Christos Stravelakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 37th minute of the match Trifon Karastamatis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kostas Pantazoulis skillfully saved the ball. Christos Stravelakis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Lakis Stellatos made a huge save. Christos Stravelakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manolis Plitsis kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

In the 53rd minute Errikos Kapareliotis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lakis Stellatos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Errikos Kapareliotis in the 55th minute of play forced AEK FC's goalkeeper Lakis Stellatos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Giorgos Christodoulou was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 58 minutes into the match. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AEK FC! The referee gave Vakoϊfi a penalty, 59 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Aggelos Moraitis, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AEK FC's Lakis Stellatos. 1-2. Giorgos Tsolakidis hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in AEK FC's zone, Christos Stravelakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lakis Stellatos came out of the goal and Christos Stravelakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 71 minutes into the match, AEK FC's goal looked a bit too open when Errikos Kapareliotis came free, but Lakis Stellatos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kostas Pantazoulis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from John Starks went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 76th minute, Sabit Tarhan fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Kostas Pantazoulis, passed just outside the right post. Lakis Stellatos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christos Stravelakis in the 83rd minute of the match. Errikos Kapareliotis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lakis Stellatos having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kleon Tachmatzidis during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of AEK FC booed when Vakoϊfi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kleon Tachmatzidis didn't get a good kick on the ball. John Starks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. AEK FC's Lakis Stellatos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christos Stravelakis in the 91st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Errikos Kapareliotis in the 94th minute of play forced AEK FC's goalkeeper Lakis Stellatos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kostas Pantazoulis made an important save on a dangerous shot by John Starks in the 99th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. AEK FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
