The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes, Nikos Iatridis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xνdhia BC and the Thiva players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, Xνdhia BC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nikos Iatridis to maneuver through the defense. When Prokopis Sofianopoulos fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Xνdhia BC's protests and gave Prokopis Sofianopoulos a yellow card for diving instead. Prokopis Sofianopoulos hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 9th minute, Miltiadis Mouratis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evripidis Zaimis's late challenge caught a Thiva's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evripidis Zaimis helped the player get up and apologised. Xνdhia BC's Kostas Chatzinikolaou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manos Anastasis in the 15th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Manos Anastasis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kostas Chatzinikolaou. That made the score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. 22 minutes into the game, Manos Anastasis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kostas Chatzinikolaou. Manos Anastasis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 31 minutes into the game, Alexis Aggelakos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Kostas Chatzinikolaou was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Theodosis Siafakas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikos Chatzipetrou having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, one of Thiva:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 40th minute there was a penalty for Xνdhia BC. Sakis Margaritis stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nikos Chatzipetrou. 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manos Anastasis to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Thiva was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thrasivoulos Gletsos to maneuver through the defense. Iosif Kontogiannis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nikos Chatzipetrou read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. When Giorgos Kalevras fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thiva's protests and gave Giorgos Kalevras a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Thiva getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Giorgos Kalevras hit a great ball. When Miltiadis Mouratis came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Xνdhia BC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miltiadis Mouratis couldn't finish the play. Iosif Kontogiannis was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 58th minute. Xνdhia BC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The Xνdhia BC fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Xνdhia BC's Iosif Kontogiannis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Theodosis Siafakas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Nikos Chatzipetrou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Xνdhia BC's Alexandros Savvakis got a free kick in the 77th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Xνdhia BC's zone, Alexis Aggelakos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kostas Chatzinikolaou came out of the goal and Alexis Aggelakos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manos Anastasis in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kostas Chatzinikolaou prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 81 minutes into the game, Miltiadis Mouratis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xνdhia BC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thiva the free kick. Miltiadis Mouratis hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute Alexis Aggelakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kostas Chatzinikolaou saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thiva's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
