Seating: 1787, VIP seats: 155) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Stelios Tarantakis took the kick off in the first half of the match. The Gortynia fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Gortynia's Thomas Stavrou looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Gortynia booed when INTER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Takis Patakos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anestis Fanakos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christos Skondras went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thomas Stavrou in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giorgos Georgiou prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 18thth minute of the game Thomas Stavrou who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but INTER FC's Giorgos Georgiou was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Giorgos Tsiartas charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giorgos Tsiartas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th minute, Giorgos Tsiartas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gortynia's Thomas Stavrou in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye INTER FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 24th minute, Eleftherios Svirkos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gortynia's Thomas Stavrou got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, one of Gortynia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gortynia. Anestis Fanakos went to the wrong direction when Dimos Gavriilidis was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 34 minutes into the match, Thomas Stavrou had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giorgos Georgiou. INTER FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thomas Stavrou was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Thomas Stavrou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Giorgos Georgiou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Giorgos Georgiou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Stavrou in the 42nd minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thomas Stavrou to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Giorgos Trabakoulos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giorgos Georgiou. INTER FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Giorgos Trabakoulos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind INTER FC's goalkeeper Giorgos Georgiou, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of INTER FC booed when Gortynia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michalis Skandalidis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Thomas Stavrou notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of INTER FC's Giorgos Georgiou. Giorgos Georgiou was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Giorgos Georgiou came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Gortynia's Michalis Skandalidis. But to his dismay, Michalis Skandalidis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. If Thomas Stavrou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giorgos Georgiou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giorgos Trabakoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Giorgos Georgiou made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thomas Stavrou in the 70th minute. After having played for 71 minutes, Giorgos Trabakoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gortynia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giorgos Trabakoulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Thomas Stavrou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, INTER FC's Giotis Moustakidis got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Gortynia's Fotis Stergallas got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Thomas Stavrou got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 84th minute, Giorgos Trabakoulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eleftherios Svirkos hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. When Eleftherios Svirkos was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 88 minutes had been played. In the 89th match minute, INTER FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eleftherios Svirkos to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Giorgos Georgiou managed to avoid a goal in the 94thth minute, when Gortynia's Thomas Stavrou fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Giorgos Voulgaris came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Gortynia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giorgos Voulgaris couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Gortynia could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than INTER FC throughout the match.
