The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paraskevas Soupas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dimosthenis Sofianopoulos in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute of the match Iosif Sfaliaridis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paraskevas Soupas skillfully saved the ball. In the 10th minute, Akis Spinos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simos Balamoutis scored 1-0 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alketas Bountouris, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Simos Balamoutis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alketas Bountouris. That made the score 2-0 in the 31 minute of play. After a rather tough play, OFI's Ilias Perivolakos got a free kick in the 36th minute. The supporters of OFI booed when Larisa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogenis Skopelitis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ilias Perivolakos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alketas Bountouris. Larisa FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Giannis Kopanos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Alketas Bountouris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anthimos Kamelatos in the 49th minute of play forced OFI's goalkeeper Paraskevas Soupas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 53 minutes, Anthimos Kanatopoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. OFI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anthimos Kanatopoulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Giannis Kopanos kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Simos Balamoutis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Alketas Bountouris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Akis Spinos charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Akis Spinos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Akis Spinos hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. The supporters of OFI booed when Larisa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ntinos Meletoglou didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Simos Balamoutis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paraskevas Soupas was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Dimosthenis Sofianopoulos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dimosthenis Sofianopoulos really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Renos Perperidis lost his temper 94 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 93 minutes into the game, one of Larisa FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Akis Spinos shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Giannis Kopanos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alketas Bountouris having to interfere. OFI's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
