Voliσnes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thymios Kermelidis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stamatis Polichronopoulos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vaggelis Nifitsas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christos Iatrakis got free with Iosif Kefalou in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vaggelis Nifitsas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stamatis Polichronopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute, Michalis Iakovidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the game, Thymios Kermelidis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thymios Kermelidis in the 31st minute of play forced Karteros F.C.'s goalkeeper Vaggelis Nifitsas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Stamatis Polichronopoulos came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Voliσnes fans jumped to their feet. If Thymios Kermelidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
