The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ booed when Kokkinitsa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stathis Chatzidimos didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Stamatis Saltiris came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stamatis Saltiris couldn't finish the play. Panos Giotoulis struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Kostas Giotos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ. In the 12th minute Iason Tsartsalis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignatios Baltimas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kostas Giotos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panos Giotoulis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Kokkinitsa's Timos Seremeglis got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 27th play minute Dimitris Karalis came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ignatios Baltimas. 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iason Tsartsalis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Kokkinitsa getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Anthimos Pirovolikos hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Kokkinitsa's zone, Stamatis Saltiris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kostas Giotos came out of the goal and Stamatis Saltiris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ booed when Kokkinitsa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Themis Karabogias didn't get a good kick on the ball. ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ's Panos Giotoulis was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 92nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Ignatios Baltimas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iason Tsartsalis in the 96th minute of play. ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ played a much better game than Kokkinitsa and deserved their victory. The Kokkinitsa players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
