The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Kleon Tsobanakis came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Keravnos Salaminas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kleon Tsobanakis couldn't finish the play. Nikitas Zervoulakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikitas Balodimos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Melissia's Petros Bantas got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Petros Bantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Takis Mavratos during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th minute, one of Keravnos Salaminas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Keravnos Salaminas. In the 24th minute, Petros Bantas made a precise shot to the right of Thodoris Ntounias. Keravnos Salaminas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. If Petros Bantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Melissia getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Alexis Giannikos hit a great ball. Melissia's Nikitas Zervoulakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kleon Tsobanakis in the 32nd minute of play. After 39 played minutes Keravnos Salaminas got a freekick which was hit by Lefteris Livaris. Kleon Tsobanakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikitas Zervoulakis having to interfere. Nikitas Zervoulakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kleon Tsobanakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kleon Tsobanakis to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stratos Macheritsas in the 54th minute of play forced Keravnos Salaminas's goalkeeper Thodoris Ntounias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Melissia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Keravnos Salaminas the free kick. Kleon Tsobanakis was extremely unlucky when he, in the 97th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Keravnos Salaminas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
