PANATHINAIKOS's Theocharis Kottikas got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Khrisopiyí FC's Antonis Kallimanis got a free kick in the 18th minute. Thomas Anastasopoulos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ken Troxler having to interfere. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Thomas Anastasopoulos sped through PANATHINAIKOS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ken Troxler. After having played for 35 minutes, Ntinos Giannakopoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PANATHINAIKOS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ntinos Giannakopoulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Renos Zikos hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute of the match Stelios Artemiou shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ken Troxler showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theocharis Kottikas in the 45th minute of play forced Khrisopiyí FC's goalkeeper Minas Tziortzopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Omiros Premetis to make the kick off. Marios Tzanetis's late challenge caught a Khrisopiyí FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marios Tzanetis helped the player get up and apologised. The PANATHINAIKOS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Khrisopiyí FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
