After 4 minutes of play, Aris Fc Kavala's Panos Papadas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Michalis Karamaounas was left in no man's land by his defense there! 9 minutes into the match, Aris Fc Kavala's goalkeeper Giannis Tsirimokos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Telis Theodoridis. The audience was convinced that Antonis Mitsibonas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Giannis Tsirimokos was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. In the 11th minute Avraam Konstantinidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michalis Karamaounas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michalis Karamaounas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renos Fotakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 14th minute by Aggelos Periadis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Simos Someritis came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Riverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simos Someritis couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panos Papadas in the 17th minute of play forced Riverpool's goalkeeper Michalis Karamaounas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the game, Simos Someritis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Riverpool's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aris Fc Kavala the free kick. A collision led to Riverpool getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Simos Someritis hit a great ball. Michalis Karamaounas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Avraam Konstantinidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 22 in the game by Antonis Mitsibonas from a close distance when the talented Giannis Tsirimokos managed to make a qualified save. Aris Fc Kavala's players were relieved. 26 minutes into the match, Aris Fc Kavala's goal looked a bit too open when Aggelos Periadis came free, but Giannis Tsirimokos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michalis Karamaounas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Renos Fotakis went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Riverpool's Michalis Karamaounas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panos Papadas in the 31st minute of play. Michalis Karamaounas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Avraam Konstantinidis in the 36th minute of the match. A well placed Antonis Mitsibonas short distance shot in the 38th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Michalis Karamaounas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Panos Papadas in the 42nd minute of the match. If Antonis Mitsibonas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Menios Loukas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aris Fc Kavala fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antonis Mitsibonas to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Antonis Mitsibonas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giannis Tsirimokos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute, Riverpool's Panos Theocharis seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Panos Theocharis the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Riverpool protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Panos Theocharis had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Riverpool! The goalkeeper, Michalis Karamaounas, was totally fooled by Aris Fc Kavala's Makis Mendrinos, who 56 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Giannis Tsirimokos came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Riverpool's Aggelos Periadis. But to his dismay, Aggelos Periadis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. In the 64th minute, Renos Fotakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erdoğan Kantara kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Michalis Karamaounas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Makis Mendrinos in the 67th minute of the match. Riverpool's Telis Theodoridis got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aggelos Periadis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Giannis Tsirimokos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Thomas Ligdas fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aris Fc Kavala's protests and gave Thomas Ligdas a yellow card for diving instead. After 73 played minutes Aris Fc Kavala got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Ligdas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simos Someritis in the 75th minute of play forced Aris Fc Kavala's goalkeeper Giannis Tsirimokos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Aris Fc Kavala's goal looked a bit too open when Simos Someritis came free, but Giannis Tsirimokos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the game, Simos Someritis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. Giannis Tsirimokos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aggelos Periadis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giannis Tsirimokos having to interfere. When Aggelos Periadis came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Riverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aggelos Periadis couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute Charilaos Christodoulopoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giannis Tsirimokos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michalis Karamaounas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panos Papadas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle went the supporters of Aris Fc Kavala were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Riverpool side.
