Panathinaikos's Efthimis Zanidis got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 4 in the game by Valdomiro Arósio from a close distance when the talented Kostas Georgakis managed to make a qualified save. Melidhokhσri BC's players were relieved. 5 minutes into the game, Savas Sikas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kostas Georgakis. Savas Sikas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 9th minute, Charis Leontiou fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Kostas Georgakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efthimis Zanidis, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Kostas Georgakis made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Arotza Pozo sent off a good shot on target. Theocharis Premetis hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Melidhokhσri BC's Kostas Georgakis got control of the ball when Efthimis Zanidis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Valdomiro Arósio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kostas Georgakis came out and tried to block the shot, but Valdomiro Arósio slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Kostas Georgakis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Charis Leontiou went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Charis Leontiou in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kostas Georgakis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute Valdomiro Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kostas Georgakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kostas Georgakis made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Arotza Pozo sent off a good shot on target. Kostas Georgakis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valdomiro Arósio's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Kostas Georgakis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Efthimis Zanidis went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdomiro Arósio was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valdomiro Arósio in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kostas Georgakis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th match minute, Panathinaikos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthimos Korellas to maneuver through the defense. After 58 minutes, Notis Symeonakos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melidhokhσri BC and the Panathinaikos players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kostas Georgakis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valdomiro Arósio's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Melidhokhσri BC's zone, Efthimis Zanidis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kostas Georgakis came out of the goal and Efthimis Zanidis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 68 minutes into the match, Melidhokhσri BC's goal looked a bit too open when Valdomiro Arósio came free, but Kostas Georgakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arotza Pozo in the 69th minute of play forced Melidhokhσri BC's goalkeeper Kostas Georgakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Valdomiro Arósio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panathinaikos's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdomiro Arósio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kostas Georgakis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arotza Pozo struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Kostas Georgakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panathinaikos. 88 minutes into the game, Panathinaikos's Valdomiro Arósio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kostas Georgakis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. Panathinaikos's Valdomiro Arósio got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Melidhokhσri BC defense, Charis Leontiou kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kostas Georgakis. The Melidhokhσri BC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kostas Georgakis should have stopped the shot. If Valdomiro Arósio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Panathinaikos players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
