The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stavros Tripodakis in the 14th minute of play forced Panafpliakos FC's goalkeeper Miltos Seichanidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 15 played minutes Panafpliakos FC got a freekick which was hit by Stavros Tsakanikas. Makas FC's Tasos Soulogiannis got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kyriakos Kanellopoulos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kostas Fragos having to interfere. Tasos Soulogiannis hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Nontas Mouratos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Kostas Fragos made a huge save. In the 26th minute, Loukas Stavropodis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kostas Fragos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kyriakos Kanellopoulos's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Stavros Tripodakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kostas Fragos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kyriakos Kanellopoulos in the 38th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nontas Mouratos got free with Kostas Fragos in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th minute Tasos Soulogiannis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miltos Seichanidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 75 played minutes Makas FC got a freekick which was hit by Stavros Sarvanas. Kostas Fragos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nontas Mouratos, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Panafpliakos FC's goalkeeper Miltos Seichanidis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81st minute of the match Makas FC got a corner. Panafpliakos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Makas FC's Menelaos Droumalias was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Miltos Seichanidis in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 86th minute, Chrisostomos Prikourakis had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tasos Soulogiannis during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Makas FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Tasos Soulogiannis hit a great ball.
