In the 7th minute Yousef El Arabi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kostas Alexoudis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kostas Alexoudis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Argyris Karagiannopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Argyris Karagiannopoulos in the 11th minute of play forced Blue Lions FC's goalkeeper Kostas Alexoudis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pantelis Kosmas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Björck in the 13th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, Stathis Klotsidis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Pantelis Kosmas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 22 minutes into the match, Yousef El Arabi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kostas Alexoudis. Blue Lions FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yousef El Arabi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pantelis Kosmas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Mesta booed when Blue Lions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Menelaos Rigatos didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yousef El Arabi to make the kick off. Markos Theriaklis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
