Königsberg Knights's Valto Räsänen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Königsberg Knights from getting a goal against them. Jani Kallio's late challenge caught a Königsberg Knights's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tony Salonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marko Huttunen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Teppo Ripatti hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. When Paavo Vuori came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Königsberg Knights fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paavo Vuori couldn't finish the play. Kärpät's Tony Salonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marko Huttunen in the 43rd minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

56 minutes into the match, Kärpät's goal looked a bit too open when Paavo Vuori came free, but Tony Salonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jani Kallio hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Jori Sjögren kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, Seppo Jatkola had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valto Räsänen. Königsberg Knights's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Seppo Jatkola was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Valto Räsänen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vilppu Puumala in the 79th minute of play. Seppo Jatkola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valto Räsänen having to interfere. Valto Räsänen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vilppu Puumala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Königsberg Knights getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Valdemar Saarelainen hit a great ball. Paavo Vuori fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Salonen having to interfere. Kärpät were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Königsberg Knights for a fine match.
