In the 3rd minute, Aarto Pihlman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 5th minute, Blue Mountain State's Hersteinn Freysson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paavo Kananen. Paavo Kananen yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Hersteinn Freysson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paavo Kananen having to make a save. Blue Mountain State's Gervásio Castilho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Unto Turunen in the 11th minute of play. Aki Kotilahti hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tenho Riihijärvi during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Teuvo Blomquist placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Aarto Pihlman was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 18th minute. Blue Mountain State's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Paavo Kananen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aarto Pihlman in the 22nd minute of the match. Paavo Kananen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hersteinn Freysson in the 23rd minute. Gervásio Castilho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Unto Turunen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paavo Kananen made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Hersteinn Freysson sent off a good shot on target. Paavo Kananen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hersteinn Freysson in the 28th minute. In the 31stth minute of the game Aarto Pihlman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tuomioja's Paavo Kananen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Paavo Kananen made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Hersteinn Freysson sent off a good shot on target. After 47 played minutes Aarto Pihlman rounded Tuomioja's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 4-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aarto Pihlman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hersteinn Freysson kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Albert Viitala got free with Gervásio Castilho in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pellervo Lehtonen hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Pellervo Lehtonen struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Paavo Kananen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Blue Mountain State. The audience was convinced that Aarto Pihlman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paavo Kananen was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Paavo Kananen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aarto Pihlman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes into the match, Tuomioja's goal looked a bit too open when Aarto Pihlman came free, but Paavo Kananen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aarto Pihlman in the 79th minute of play forced Tuomioja's goalkeeper Paavo Kananen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute Aarto Pihlman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paavo Kananen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Aarto Pihlman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 86 minutes into the game, Aki Kotilahti cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Paavo Kananen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 89 minutes into the game, Fabricio Suarez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Blue Mountain State's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tuomioja the free kick. In the 89th minute, Fabricio Suarez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albert Viitala could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Gervásio Castilho made a huge save. In the 92nd minute Unto Huikari shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gervásio Castilho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Viitala recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Blue Mountain State had played much better football throughout.
