In the 4th minute Pertti Lahikainen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esko Varis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kaapo Eklund hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Koivulahti IFK's zone, Mikko Haapamäki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Otto Rinne came out of the goal and Mikko Haapamäki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th minute, Oliver Kujanpää hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Esko Varis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pertti Lahikainen went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Otto Rinne made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mikko Haapamäki in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pertti Lahikainen in the 20th minute of play forced Ankkurit IFK's goalkeeper Esko Varis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mikko Haapamäki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Otto Rinne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Otto Rinne made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mikko Haapamäki in the 24th minute. After a rather tough play, Koivulahti IFK's Pellervo Kuoppala got a free kick in the 27th minute. Pertti Lahikainen struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Esko Varis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Koivulahti IFK. In the 34th minute, Mikko Haapamäki fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Otto Rinne, passed just outside the right post. Mikko Haapamäki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Otto Rinne made a huge save. In the 38th minute, Veikka Reinikka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Otto Rinne made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mikko Haapamäki in the 45th minute. Pertti Lahikainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Esko Varis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Koivulahti IFK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Pertti Lahikainen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oliver Kujanpää during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 58 played minutes Koivulahti IFK got a freekick which was hit by Oliver Kujanpää. 60 minutes into the game, Pellervo Kuoppala was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Koivulahti IFK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ankkurit IFK the free kick. A collision led to Koivulahti IFK getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Pellervo Kuoppala hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niklas Puro in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Otto Rinne saved Koivulahti IFK from getting behind. In the 63rd minute, Niklas Puro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ankkurit IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Ankkurit IFK booed when Koivulahti IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heikki Myllylä didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Mikko Haapamäki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niklas Puro might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Otto Rinne. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niklas Puro ran back to his position shaking his head. Pertti Lahikainen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Esko Varis made a huge save. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
