The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Taavi Rämö's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elias Marttinen was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Hormajärvi's Maunu Vallin got a free kick in the 5th minute. A very good chance for a goal. 11 minutes into the match, Maunu Vallin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Riku Ilola. FC FINLAND's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maunu Vallin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Elias Marttinen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valio Koivuranta in the 14th minute of play. Untamo Lehtinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Taavi Rämö came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the FC FINLAND fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Taavi Rämö couldn't finish the play. Untamo Lehtinen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Marttinen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Valio Koivuranta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Taavi Rämö in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Elias Marttinen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Taavi Rämö got free with Elias Marttinen in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valio Koivuranta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tommi Alanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 35 minutes, Valio Koivuranta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC FINLAND's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valio Koivuranta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Riku Ilola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rauno Alatalo in the 36th minute of the match. Taavi Rämö received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Elias Marttinen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maunu Vallin kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. FC FINLAND's Riku Ilola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jyrki Lehtilä in the 60th minute of play. A collision led to Hormajärvi getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Tapio Kylmänen hit a great ball. Valio Koivuranta struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Elias Marttinen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC FINLAND. FC FINLAND's Untamo Lehtinen got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
