The supporters of MYPA booed when Virgin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sampo Nybacka didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 5 played minutes Urpo Pesonen scored with a long sweeping shot just to the left of Aleksis Korkeakoski who was too lazy, 1-0. In the 9th minute Ari Juujärvi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anssi Palo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ossi Vähäsavo's late challenge caught a Virgin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. MYPA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ari Juujärvi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Anssi Palo came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Virgin's Ari Juujärvi. But to his dismay, Ari Juujärvi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. When Ari Juujärvi came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Virgin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ari Juujärvi couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Virgin's Daavid Koponen fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Daavid Koponen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anssi Palo having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, MYPA's goal looked a bit too open when Daavid Koponen came free, but Anssi Palo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Virgin were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Janne Parkkonen made a kick off. If Ari Juujärvi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Urpo Pesonen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Urpo Pesonen fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MYPA's protests and gave Urpo Pesonen a yellow card for diving instead. 60 minutes into the game, one of MYPA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Virgin a penalty, 62 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Aukusti Heinola, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of MYPA's Anssi Palo. 1-4. Virgin's Daavid Koponen got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Janne Parkkonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksis Korkeakoski having to interfere. Ari Juujärvi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Anssi Palo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 80 minutes, Ari Juujärvi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Virgin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ari Juujärvi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Virgin's Kristian Vihtilä got a free kick in the 86th minute. Aleksis Korkeakoski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Janne Parkkonen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kristian Vihtilä fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anssi Palo having to interfere. In the 98th minute Janne Parkkonen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aleksis Korkeakoski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
