Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Sulho Kauppinen took the kick off in the first half of the match. Sulho Kauppinen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Manchester City's Jorma Mäkilä proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester City from getting a goal against them. Jari Hannukainen hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Sulho Kauppinen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Jorma Mäkilä tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hannes Kaikkonen struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Janne Kananen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester City. If Sampo Grönholm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arttu Joensuu in the 16th minute of play forced Manchester City's goalkeeper Jorma Mäkilä to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Janne Kananen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hannes Kaikkonen's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Janne Kananen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sampo Grönholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Kim Penttilä managed to get in a good position for a shot. Menikkala IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kim Penttilä was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorma Mäkilä breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the game, Manchester City's Sampo Grönholm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Janne Kananen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Sulho Kauppinen struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. In the 50th minute of the match Elmeri Halonen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jorma Mäkilä skillfully saved the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sampo Grönholm made a kick off. Jorma Mäkilä took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kim Penttilä, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 67 minutes into the match, Menikkala IFK's Kim Penttilä sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorma Mäkilä narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Voitto Ilola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 82nd minute, Arttu Joensuu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Menikkala IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Jorma Mäkilä made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sulho Kauppinen in the 95th minute of play. Jorma Mäkilä showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kim Penttilä in the 97th minute of the match.
