Spectators: 7697 (Terracing: 5853, Seating: 1794, VIP seats: 50) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marko Nikkinen started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Menikkala IFK's Kustaa Tuominen got a free kick in the 3rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Menikkala IFK's zone, Konsta Tuomainen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Janne Kananen came out of the goal and Konsta Tuomainen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Marko Nikkinen took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Janne Kananen to make any attempt to save it. Voitto Tervo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sulho Kauppinen in the 9th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kimmo Hakanen got free with Janne Kananen in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Marko Nikkinen put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Janne Kananen. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Kim Penttilä managed to get in a good position for a shot. Menikkala IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kim Penttilä was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Voitto Tervo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kimmo Hakanen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of FC Kilpi booed when Menikkala IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kustaa Tuominen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 21 minutes into the match, FC Kilpi's goal looked a bit too open when Kim Penttilä came free, but Voitto Tervo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kim Penttilä sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sulho Kauppinen in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Voitto Tervo saved FC Kilpi from getting behind. If Sulho Kauppinen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Janne Kananen stood somewhat misplaced when Marko Nikkinen came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 32 minute. Sulho Kauppinen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Voitto Tervo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 46 minutes, Kim Penttilä managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Menikkala IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kim Penttilä was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sulho Kauppinen made a kick off. Sulho Kauppinen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Voitto Tervo having to make a save. In the 58th minute, Kim Penttilä got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kimmo Hakanen in the 60th minute of play forced Menikkala IFK's goalkeeper Janne Kananen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kim Penttilä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Voitto Tervo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sulho Kauppinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Konsta Tuomainen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The FC Kilpi support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
