The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Höljäkkä's Toni Saira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Höljäkkä from getting a goal against them. 6 minutes into the game, Höljäkkä's Pellervo Ikola nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jukka Ryynänen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Teuvo Hakanen hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. When Valio Airisto came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the FC Harhelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valio Airisto couldn't finish the play. Mika Etula's late challenge caught a Höljäkkä's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mika Etula helped the player get up and apologised. Höljäkkä's Kalervo Sainomaa got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Kalervo Sainomaa came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Höljäkkä fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kalervo Sainomaa couldn't finish the play. When Höljäkkä's Kalervo Sainomaa in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Jori Hassinen made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Jori Hassinen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toni Saira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Höljäkkä's Kalervo Sainomaa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jukka Ryynänen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jukka Ryynänen made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Pellervo Ikola sent off a good shot on target. Taisto Kirjonen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Toni Saira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Valio Airisto made a precise shot to the right of Toni Saira. Höljäkkä's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. If Kalervo Sainomaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jukka Ryynänen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pellervo Ikola in the 78th minute. When Pellervo Ikola came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Höljäkkä fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pellervo Ikola couldn't finish the play. If Kalervo Sainomaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th play minute Arsi Halonen came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jukka Ryynänen. 2-2. Kalervo Sainomaa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valio Airisto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toni Saira having to interfere. Valio Airisto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Toni Saira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joni Holmström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 100th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
