Hannu Hakaniemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hannes Puikkonen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Timo Hakanen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 17 minutes into the game, Kaapo Okkonen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PSY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Suntti the free kick. Kaapo Okkonen hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. FC Suntti's Timo Hakanen got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Aaro Puhakainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eero Lahtinen during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 36 played minutes FC Suntti got a freekick which was hit by Eero Lahtinen. PSY's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tommi Määttänen in the 39th minute. PSY's Tommi Määttänen was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hannu Hakaniemi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 41 minutes into the match, Marko Meltoranta notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of PSY's Tahvo Pikkarainen. Tahvo Pikkarainen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 46 minutes, Eero Lahtinen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Suntti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eero Lahtinen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hannes Puikkonen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, PSY's goal looked a bit too open when Timo Hakanen came free, but Tahvo Pikkarainen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reko Hannukainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Hannu Hakaniemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Timo Hakanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Aaro Puhakainen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hannu Hakaniemi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hannes Puikkonen's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Reko Hannukainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Hannu Hakaniemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee gave PSY a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tommi Määttänen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Suntti's Hannu Hakaniemi. 1-1. In the 74th minute Hannes Puikkonen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hannu Hakaniemi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reko Hannukainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Hannu Hakaniemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 76 minutes into the game, Marko Meltoranta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 91st minute, Hannes Puikkonen fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kalle Martikainen in the 94th minute of play forced FC Suntti's goalkeeper Hannu Hakaniemi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
