The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Ahvo Penttilä hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aaro Puhakainen struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Toni Saira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Suntti. Toni Saira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaro Puhakainen in the 4th minute of play. Pellervo Ikola kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. If Aaro Puhakainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teuvo Hakanen during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 15 minutes into the game, Arsi Halonen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Höljäkkä's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Suntti the free kick. In the 16th match minute, Höljäkkä was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arsi Halonen to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute of the match Aimo Lindberg shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Toni Saira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Eero Lahtinen hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Pellervo Ikola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hannu Hakaniemi having to interfere. Kalervo Sainomaa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 minutes, Pellervo Ikola made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Suntti's Hannu Hakaniemi tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 37 minutes into the game, Timo Hakanen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Toni Saira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 41 minutes into the match, FC Suntti's goalkeeper Hannu Hakaniemi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pellervo Ikola. After 42 played minutes, FC Suntti's Joni Uusipaavalniemi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Toni Saira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Suntti reached it. A collision led to FC Suntti getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Aimo Lindberg hit a great ball. In the 45th minute, Ahvo Penttilä sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Suntti's Hannu Hakaniemi didn't even have to move. Hannu Hakaniemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kalervo Sainomaa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half FC Suntti were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 52 minutes, Kalervo Sainomaa made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. FC Suntti's Hannu Hakaniemi tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Höljäkkä booed when FC Suntti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joni Uusipaavalniemi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Höljäkkä's Arho Nyman got a free kick in the 57th minute. Toni Saira stood somewhat misplaced when Timo Hakanen came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 61 minute. Joni Holmström charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joni Holmström the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joni Holmström hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. If Pellervo Ikola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Toni Saira successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 88th minute, Timo Hakanen made a precise shot to the right of Toni Saira. Höljäkkä's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. If Aaro Puhakainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The FC Suntti supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Suntti would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
