Aarto Tikka started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute Silvo Uusiniemi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paavali Saarelainen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paavali Saarelainen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvo Uusiniemi in the 7th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes Singsby HF got a freekick which was hit by Valio Vikström. Turo Paatelainen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paavali Saarelainen having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Mennää FC's goalkeeper Alpi Pietiläinen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Esko Tallqvist. Mennää FC's Turo Paatelainen got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paavali Saarelainen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvo Uusiniemi's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Turo Paatelainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Paavali Saarelainen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alpi Pietiläinen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aarto Tikka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Silvo Uusiniemi was the one to do the kick off. Alpi Pietiläinen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aarto Tikka's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Turo Paatelainen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paavali Saarelainen having to interfere. Alpi Pietiläinen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aarto Tikka, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Mennää FC's Alpi Pietiläinen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esko Tallqvist in the 64th minute of play. With a little luck, Singsby HF's Paavali Saarelainen got control of the ball when Turo Paatelainen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Turo Paatelainen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Oskari Reimari fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Singsby HF's protests and gave Oskari Reimari a yellow card for diving instead. Turo Paatelainen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paavali Saarelainen having to interfere. When Mennää FC's Silvo Uusiniemi in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Singsby HF's goalie prevented a goal. Turo Paatelainen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Mennää FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mennää FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
