Alfred Tuulola charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfred Tuulola the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Trastmossen IFK's Heikki Kuuri got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arto Nylund in the 12th minute of play forced Tampere United's goalkeeper Miro Pyhältö to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Heikki Kuuri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miro Pyhältö was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Reijo Martikainen. Arto Nylund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miro Pyhältö read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Miro Alanko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 26 minutes, Heikki Kuuri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trastmossen IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heikki Kuuri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Arto Nylund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arto Nylund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miro Pyhältö read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Tampere United's Reino Vainionpää nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aadolf Koskenkorva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1.

57 minutes into the match, Tampere United's Reino Vainionpää sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aadolf Koskenkorva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aadolf Koskenkorva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kustaa Kultanen in the 60th minute of play. Kustaa Kultanen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reijo Martikainen hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Tampere United's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mikko Hulkkonen in the 68th minute. In the 71st minute, Heikki Kuuri made a precise shot to the right of Miro Pyhältö. Tampere United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Kustaa Kultanen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th match minute, Trastmossen IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antero Ruohiainen to maneuver through the defense. After 81 played minutes Tampere United got a freekick which was hit by Kimi Viuhkola. 83 minutes into the match, Tampere United's goal looked a bit too open when Ilpo Kokko came free, but Miro Pyhältö reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miro Pyhältö took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arto Nylund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes into the match, Tampere United's Miro Alanko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aadolf Koskenkorva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Trastmossen IFK's Aadolf Koskenkorva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kustaa Kultanen in the 95th minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
