In the 2nd minute, Auno Pyhältö hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 4 minutes into the match, Reino Vainionpää notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Minnesota Wild's Rainer Vihtilä. Rainer Vihtilä was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Maunu Vallin took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Miro Pyhältö. Miro Pyhältö dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Rainer Vihtilä showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kustaa Kultanen in the 16th minute of the match. Reino Vainionpää fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rainer Vihtilä having to interfere. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Tampere United's goalkeeper Miro Pyhältö, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute Perttu Kivi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miro Pyhältö saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miro Pyhältö came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Minnesota Wild's Perttu Kivi. But to his dismay, Perttu Kivi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 28th minute Kustaa Kultanen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rainer Vihtilä saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Minnesota Wild defense, Kustaa Kultanen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rainer Vihtilä. The Minnesota Wild fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rainer Vihtilä should have stopped the shot. In the 34th minute of the match Timo Tarvainen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miro Pyhältö skillfully saved the ball. Maunu Vallin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Miro Pyhältö having to make a save. Perttu Kivi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miro Pyhältö having to interfere. Tampere United's Miro Pyhältö played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perttu Kivi in the 41st minute of play. After some careless play in the Tampere United defense, Perttu Kivi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Miro Pyhältö. The Tampere United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Miro Pyhältö should have stopped the shot. When Maunu Vallin, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 48 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Miro Pyhältö was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Perttu Kivi made a kick off. Reino Vainionpää struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Rainer Vihtilä didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tampere United. If Kustaa Kultanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tampere United's Miro Pyhältö played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perttu Kivi in the 64th minute of play. Miro Alanko kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Maunu Vallin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Perttu Kivi in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Miro Pyhältö saved Tampere United from getting behind. Reino Vainionpää in the 74thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rainer Vihtilä, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Minnesota Wild's Rainer Vihtilä proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Minnesota Wild from getting a goal against them. Maunu Vallin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Miro Pyhältö tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reino Vainionpää's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 81stth minute, Rainer Vihtilä skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Reino Vainionpää had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute Maunu Vallin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miro Pyhältö saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Risto Tuovinen kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After having played for 95 minutes, Mikko Hulkkonen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tampere United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mikko Hulkkonen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tampere United's Miro Pyhältö played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perttu Kivi in the 98th minute of play. Minnesota Wild were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Tampere United for a fine match.
