The crowd rose to their feet as Arvo Latvanen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Saul Kangasniemi. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. Into Nyrhinen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pauli Grahn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Rovaniemen Pallo Seura fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Rovaniemen Pallo Seura's Jari Varis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arvo Latvanen was the one to do the kick off. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Into Nyrhinen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jari Varis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Into Nyrhinen having to interfere.
