An unexpectedly hard shot by Jalmari Keskinarkaus in the 3rd minute of play forced Pispala IFK's goalkeeper Heikki Kaltiainen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 5th minute, Petteri Myllys got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Herman Viljamaa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paavo Kaikkonen in the 16th minute of the match. Herman Viljamaa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paavo Kaikkonen went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Herman Viljamaa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paavo Kaikkonen in the 23rd minute of play. After 32 played minutes Pätiälä got a freekick which was hit by Anselmi Takala. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paavo Kaikkonen in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Herman Viljamaa saved Pätiälä from getting behind. Herman Viljamaa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Riku Jokiranta, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 37 minutes into the game, when Ilkka Pihkala put in a rough tackle. In the 37th minute, one of Pätiälä:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pätiälä. Paavo Kaikkonen struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Herman Viljamaa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pispala IFK. Herman Viljamaa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Riku Jokiranta went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After the first half Pispala IFK were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paavo Kaikkonen to make the kick off. 1-4 became the score in the 52nd minute when Paavo Kaikkonen elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Anselmi Takala hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Paavo Kaikkonen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 59 played minutes Pätiälä got a freekick which was hit by Joel Saastamoinen. The audience was convinced that Paavo Kaikkonen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herman Viljamaa was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Paavo Kaikkonen sped through Pätiälä's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Herman Viljamaa. 69 minutes into the game, Paavo Kaikkonen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Herman Viljamaa. Paavo Kaikkonen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-6. Rainer Hedberg hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Herman Viljamaa made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Eerik Wallen sent off a good shot on target. After 86 minutes, Anselmi Takala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pätiälä and the Pispala IFK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Anselmi Takala hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Paavo Kaikkonen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Pispala IFK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Pätiälä throughout the match.
