Spectators: 7584 (Terracing: 5766, Seating: 1768, VIP seats: 50) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ahti Sihvonen started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Merilä booed when IF Kronan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mika Kujanpää didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anselmi Furuholm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reino Nevanlinna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Petri Vikström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Paavo Vähäsalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th match minute, Merilä was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahvo Huhtiniemi to maneuver through the defense. Aimo Ruutu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmi Furuholm having to interfere. Ahti Sihvonen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merilä's Anselmi Furuholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aimo Ruutu in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, IF Kronan's goalkeeper Paavo Vähäsalo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Petri Vikström. In the 37thth minute of the game Aimo Ruutu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Merilä's Anselmi Furuholm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Reino Nevanlinna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmi Furuholm having to interfere. When IF Kronan's Reino Nevanlinna in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Eemil Haanpää kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Paavo Vähäsalo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ahti Sihvonen, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Anselmi Furuholm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reino Nevanlinna in the 58th minute of play. Ahti Sihvonen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. If Petri Vikström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. IF Kronan had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
