The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Vehmainen! Pentti Mikkonen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kalle Helkamo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eevert Lahikainen to strike the kick off in the second half. Paavo Niinimäki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arto Kuivaharju, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Kalle Helkamo put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Paavo Niinimäki. After a defensive mix-up in FC Vehmainen's zone, Kalle Helkamo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paavo Niinimäki came out of the goal and Kalle Helkamo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kalle Helkamo took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paavo Niinimäki. Paavo Niinimäki dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The audience was convinced that Kalle Helkamo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paavo Niinimäki was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Paavo Niinimäki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kalle Helkamo, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Paavo Niinimäki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jani Vento in the 68th minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Flyt's Kalle Helkamo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paavo Niinimäki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 94th minute Kalle Helkamo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paavo Niinimäki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Urpo Petriläinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
