Matinkylä FC's Ville Kukkamäki got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ville Kukkamäki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martti Timmonen having to interfere. In the 28th match minute, Matinkylä FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kauno Hujanen to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Ville Kukkamäki managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matinkylä FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ville Kukkamäki was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Martti Timmonen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 34 minutes into the match, Royal Engineers's goal looked a bit too open when Taisto Masalin came free, but Martti Timmonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
