The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Uuno Viitaluoma during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Royal Engineers getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Uuno Viitaluoma hit a great ball. Nilosvaara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Seppo Hagelberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ari Möksy made a kick off. Seppo Hagelberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martti Timmonen having to interfere. Martti Timmonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seppo Hagelberg in the 58th minute of play. Seppo Hagelberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ari Eloranta in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martti Timmonen saved Royal Engineers from getting behind. Seppo Hagelberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Martti Timmonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Seppo Hagelberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martti Timmonen having to interfere. Martti Timmonen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Seppo Hagelberg went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Ari Eloranta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nilosvaara's supporters rose to their feet, but Ari Eloranta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Martti Timmonen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Seppo Hagelberg came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Nilosvaara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seppo Hagelberg couldn't finish the play. Seppo Hagelberg struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Martti Timmonen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nilosvaara. 95 minutes into the game, Ari Möksy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Royal Engineers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nilosvaara the free kick. After 95 played minutes Royal Engineers got a freekick which was hit by Ari Möksy. Royal Engineers's Martti Timmonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ari Eloranta in the 98th minute of play. There was no doubt that Nilosvaara were the better team. Nilosvaara's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
