Spectators: 7703 (Terracing: 5779, Seating: 1771, VIP seats: 153) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ari Möksy got the match started through his kick off. Lauri Peuhkuri who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Martti Timmonen when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Martti Timmonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Panu Rajamäki, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Royal Engineers's Martti Timmonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panu Rajamäki in the 7th minute of play. After 8 played minutes Royal Engineers got a freekick which was hit by Uuno Viitaluoma. After having played for 9 minutes, Panu Rajamäki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Amöba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Panu Rajamäki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of Royal Engineers:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Amöba:s goal. Martti Timmonen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Panu Rajamäki's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Martti Timmonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panu Rajamäki in the 23rd minute of play. Martti Timmonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panu Rajamäki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Royal Engineers's Martti Timmonen got control of the ball when Jyrki Lahti tried to sneak it across the goal line. Panu Rajamäki received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Martti Timmonen came out and tried to block the shot, but Panu Rajamäki slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 28th minute. 32 minutes into the match, FC Amöba's goal looked a bit too open when Uuno Viitaluoma came free, but Aleksis Andersson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Royal Engineers's Martti Timmonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panu Rajamäki in the 37th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Royal Engineers's goal looked a bit too open when Panu Rajamäki came free, but Martti Timmonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jyrki Lahti got free with Martti Timmonen in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute Petri Rantala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martti Timmonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Panu Rajamäki in the 52nd minute of play forced Royal Engineers's goalkeeper Martti Timmonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uuno Viitaluoma's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aleksis Andersson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. FC Amöba's Aleksis Andersson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ari Möksy in the 78th minute of play. Martti Timmonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jyrki Lahti in the 81st minute of play. If Jyrki Lahti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Royal Engineers defense, Jyrki Lahti kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martti Timmonen. The Royal Engineers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martti Timmonen should have stopped the shot. FC Amöba were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Royal Engineers for a fine match.
