In the 4th match minute, Vihiniemi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urmas Hautaniemi to maneuver through the defense. The Tarvaspohja fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Vihiniemi's Iiro Vanhatalo got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Kim Nikkinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vihiniemi's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Yrjänä Nylund scored to the left of an out of position Yrjö Sulin, making the score, 2-1. The supporters of Vihiniemi booed when Tarvaspohja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Nikkinen didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iiro Vanhatalo to make the kick off. Yrjänä Nylund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iiro Vanhatalo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksi Huikari having to interfere. Pekko Oravainen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Aleksi Huikari made a huge save. After some careless play in the Vihiniemi defense, Kim Nikkinen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yrjö Sulin. The Vihiniemi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yrjö Sulin should have stopped the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Vihiniemi players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tarvaspohja.
