After 31 minutes of play, Kappellstrand's Ismo Noponen made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Yrjö Sulin was left in no man's land by his defense there! Yrjö Sulin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iikka Pakaslahti in the 35th minute of play. Iiro Vanhatalo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joona Lehterä having to interfere. Pekko Oravainen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the game, Toivo Tukio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vihiniemi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kappellstrand the free kick. After a rather tough play, Vihiniemi's Toivo Tukio got a free kick in the 45th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iiro Vanhatalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Iikka Pakaslahti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yrjö Sulin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jukka Tirkkonen showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 56 minute of play. Ismo Noponen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yrjö Sulin having to interfere. The supporters of Vihiniemi booed when Kappellstrand was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaj Viinikainen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kappellstrand's Joona Lehterä played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pekko Oravainen in the 70th minute of play. Iikka Pakaslahti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Yrjö Sulin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Iiro Vanhatalo made a precise shot to the right of Joona Lehterä. Kappellstrand's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Toivo Tukio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
